極楽鳥花は霜に弱く、冬が十分に温暖な地域でなければ直接地面に植えることができません。
通常は、熱帯の生育環境を持つ地球の暖かい地域に生息し、鉢で育て、そうでない場合は冬に室内に取り入れる必要があります。
